Shifting from Cold Call Anxiety to Confidence and Successful Closings

Today we’re speaking on a topic that is the #1 fear I see in my community – cold calling.

Cold calling is what causes my ladies to hesitate, which then leads to procrastination. This also prolongs success as they are not making the calls to make the money.

But what if I told you that with a shift in perspective, we could turn those scary moments into opportunities for joy and ease? Stick with me here…

First off, let’s talk about the elephant in the room: cold calling can feel downright intimidating. But, why is that? Often, it’s because we’re so worried about the outcome—getting that yes or that we may get yelled at—that we lose sight of the process and the person on the other end of the line.

It’s time to flip the script, so to speak.

  1. Every call is an opportunity to learn and grow. Whether it’s a ‘yes,’ a ‘no,’ or a ‘maybe,’ every interaction teaches me something about my approach, the market, or myself.
  2. Rejection is not personal; it’s procedural. Not every call will end in a yes, and that’s okay. It’s part of the process and each rejection brings me closer to my next yes.
  3. My worth is not determined by the outcome of this call. I am skilled and valuable, regardless of any single interaction. My confidence comes from within, not from external validation.
  4. I’m building resilience with every call I make. Each dial strengthens my resolve, sharpens my skills, and deepens my understanding.
  5. This call could be the one that changes everything. Every cold call has the potential to be the breakthrough I’ve been waiting for. The next call could lead to my biggest deal yet.
  6. I am a problem-solver. My goal is to understand the needs of the person on the other end of the line and offer solutions.
  7. My authenticity is my greatest asset. People respond to genuine interest and care. By being myself, I create a connection that goes beyond the transactional.
  8. I am part of a larger journey. Each call is a step on my path to success. I am committed to this journey; every interaction is valuable to my progress.
  9. The more I call, the more comfortable I become. Like any skill, comfort comes with practice. The more I engage in cold calling, the more natural it becomes, and the fear will dissipate.

Incorporating these beliefs can significantly shift your cold-calling experience, making it more about connection and service than just a means to an end. It’s about shifting the perspective from selling to serving, from convincing to consulting, and from apprehension to anticipation. It doesn’t have to be a source of dread. With the right mindset and beliefs, it can become a powerful tool in your arsenal—one that’s filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and connect.

Remember, each call is a step on your path to success. Believe in your ability to add value, and watch as those cold calls turn into fruitful conversations and, ultimately, WINS.
